Halton police probing ‘targeted’ shooting at Burlington townhouse complex

Halton police are investigating a “targeted” shooting in a Burlington townhouse complex that sprayed bullets into garage doors and a parked truck.

The regional police service said a man living in a townhouse complex on Maple Avenue, across from Mapleview Mall, reported being shot at.

The man said someone rang his doorbell repeatedly, prompting him to go outside. At that point, he said someone fired several shots in his direction from behind a parked car.

He told police the shooting happened at around 4:45 a.m.

The man was not injured, but police found bullet holes in the man’s garage door as well as in a neighbouring door and a nearby parked truck.

Police say the shooting appears to be targeted, noting the complainant has been “involved in an ongoing dispute” that could be a motive for the shooting.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, including nearby homeowners who may have security camera footage to share. To share information anonymously, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
