Provincial police seize $70K worth of stolen property after 2-month investigation

Two people have been charged after a string of thefts spanning across a section of southwestern Ontario over the last few months.  

Provincial police said the crime spree, which took place throughout Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford counties, involved vehicle thefts, pursuits, the use of stolen credit cards. Tools, electronics and other goods were also recovered. 

After a two-month investigation into the alleged crimes, and with the assistance of London police, OPP officers located two suspects in a hotel room in London where they were arrested without incident. 

Police said about $70,000 worth of stolen property, which included two stolen vehicles, dozens of stolen IDs, 10 garage door openers, wallets, and other items were recovered. 

A 30-year-old man from Thames Centre has been charged by OPP detachments in Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford counties in relation to a combined total of 27 incidents. Police say he’s in custody pending a court date. 

Additionally, a 24-year-old woman from London has been charged by Middlesex County OPP with charges relating to 10 incidents. She has been released and is pending a future court date.
